The Starlightz and I had so much fun recording of "A Fool in Love" by Tina Turner in the studio late last year.
According to Wikipedia “A Fool in Love” was the 1960 debut single of Ike & Tina Turner duo and the first song she published under the stage name Tina Turner. A fool in Love was one of the first ever R&B songs to cross over into the pop music charts since Ray Charles brought his gospel blues style to the scene.
In our rockin’ blues version of the song I switched up the introduction and added in a guitar solo (JohnnyCat Soubrand) as well as a saxophone solo (Jack Sanford)
After having all that fun in the studio with “A Fool in Love” the Starlightz are keeping with vibe and heading into the studio once again. This time we are going to tackle an updated version of Ray Charles’’ 1963 iconic Rhythm and Blues classic:: "Unchain My Heart" featuring the beautiful voices of the Starlightz (Aeriol Ascher, Janeen Salcido, Kristy Hughes and Lisa Valverde)
We want to honor the “feel” of the original song with it's signature baseline riff but rather than featuring horns, our version will feature a guitar instrumental and bluesy piano riffs as well as the smooth 3 part harmonies of the Starlightz. We are beginning production on this new single in mid- March and are currently working with some of our favorite musicians in preparation for our studio session.
